Tuesday’s State of the Union address had so many disgusting moments that my stomach is still churning.
They used to say that a broken clock is right twice a day. Or even an idiot gets it right, once in a while.
The Democrats were just wrong.
Back when I watched NFL, when the Packers took the field, I would cheer. They were my team.
My mom died a Packer Backer. Today, my only interest in football comes in the form of Google giving me updates about Packer games. I have no emotional investment in their game.
The Democrats treat politics, and life, like a team sport. You never cheer for the other team; you always cheer for your team.
That’s ok, you don’t have to cheer for the other team, for my team. You do have to show respect.
When Joe Wilson called out Obama for his lies, by shouting, “You lie!” when Obama was lying, he was punished by the House for “unsportsman like behavior.”
Every Democrat at the State of the Union was disrespectful; some stepped over the line into “unsportsman like behavior”, I’m looking at the Muslim twins and Al Green, but there were more.
But what is truly and fully disgusting is the behavior of the Democrats to the country. You don’t have to cheer and clap for my team, but you should darn well stand up and show respect and pride when the USA Gold Medal Hockey team walks into the chamber. You stand up when heroes are given their awards. You stand up when asked if you support Americans or illegal aliens.
The Democrats are consumed with so much hate that they can’t show any love for our country.
Joe Biden was my president. Obama was my president. Bill Clinton was my president. Even that horrible, weak, nation- and world destroying Jimmy Carter was my president.
I still stood for our flag. I was still respectful of the office.
It was once explained to me that you salute the position, not the man. Just like the guards at the entrance to the base didn’t salute Mom or me when we drove the bus onto the base, they saluted the officer’s tag on the bumper. They were saluting Dad, even if he wasn’t in the car.
The next time there is a Democrat as president, I know I will be hearing about how I need to respect the office of the president. That I shouldn’t say disrespectful things about the person who occupies the Oval Office. And when I point out how they treated President Trump and then President Vance, they will tell me “That’s different.”

someday We the People will realize if there is a (d) after a name or bumper stickers “blue” in color we will not bother with them.
2024 to 2028 will be known as the time America fully understood history hasn’t lied to us about who the democrat party really is- evil incarnate. I will have nothing to do with any liberal democrat. ever. since klinton was in office democrats divided divided divided everything and everyone who isn’t them. you want division??? ok, you got it- good verses evil. time to start giving them what they give us. if you can’t be bothered to go vote YOU are the problem
“muslim twins” — I think I would use the term “islamist twins”. After all, they may or may not adhere to that religion, I can’t tell. But I certainly can tell that they support islamist terrorism.
I never thought I would be a fan of Sen. Fetterman. But, here we are.
.
While I am not a fan of his party, or a lot of the policies he supports, I do have a LOT of respect for the man himself. Of all the Dems, he is the only one who echoing what you just wrote. Like and agree have NOTHING to do with acting appropriately and respecting the Office of the President. As well as your own office. Let’s not forget their behavior is equally disrespectful to the Office of Senator or Representative.
I feel the same way about Fetterman. I have been getting that feeling for a while, and I was watching him (and his suit!) throughout the SOTU and was actually impressed. He did not agree with everything, but still respected certain things that spoke to him and had the b**l* to stand/clap for them/it while the rest of that waste of air just sat there glaring. Sounds weird, but I expect that sooner or later he may leave the Dems and become an Independent.
The Democrats I remember from my youth would never have acted like today’s democrats. True, their political ideas may have morphed, but that does not explain their total descent into preschoolers. Sen. Fetterman reminds me a lot of the Democrats from the 70s through the 90s. Yes, their politics may not have placed US interests first all the time, but at least they demonstrated respect for the Office of the President, and the American public.
.
Growing up in the Metro NYC area, I remember Mario Cuomo, and quite liked him. But his sons? Proof the apple does, sometimes, fall very far from the tree.
Fetterman has been dragging me kicking and screaming into respecting him….
Same. I don’t like all — or even most — of Sen. Fetterman’s preferred policies, but the man himself is a class act compared to most of his “peers.”
.
I’d like to think that, among all the Democrats in Congress, he is one of the very few (perhaps the only one) with whom one of us could have a civil, policy-centric discussion and not be cut off mid-sentence or have it devolve into screaming or name-calling, and both walk away agreeing to disagree but with a better understanding of each other’s opinions.
.
That’s rare praise for anyone in Congress (or politics in general), but it’s darn-near non-existent among Democrats.
I am experiencing a lack of respect for the majority of TDS affected Democrats, period. We, the People deserve better.
Joe Biden was my president. Obama was my president. Bill Clinton was my president. Even that horrible, weak, nation- and world destroying Jimmy Carter was my president.
I still stood for our flag. I was still respectful of the office.
.
This is what I’ve been commenting on posts where someone says “Not MY President” or “Not MY flag” or “Not MY anthem” or whatever.
.
There’s no MY flag/anthem/President and YOUR flag/anthem/President. If you’re American, there is only THE flag, THE anthem, and THE President. The governmental framework we inherited says that we vote for candidates for the Office of the President and the winner assumes the Office of the President … and that happens even if it’s not “your guy/gal” who wins.
.
(And if you’re NOT American, then you have zero say in THE American flag/anthem/President; it’s literally not your business. If you want a say, naturalize and become a citizen, legally, and cast your vote with the rest of us.)
.
I voted against Biden, and against Obama (both times), but once each was sworn in, he was THE President and I gave them both the due respect of their Office. I voted against Trump in the 2016 primary (I favored Scott Walker until he withdrew, and Ted Cruz or Carly Fiorina afterward) but voted FOR him in the general election; under the same reasoning, once he won the primaries, there’s no more MY Republican candidate and YOUR Republican candidate, there’s only THE Republican candidate.
.
This whole “Not MY President” thing is another tactic of division, and I’m beginning to truly believe we’re headed toward a National Divorce; the only way this “MY President/YOUR President” crap works is if we have two Presidents, two governments, and two nations.
