It is nice to go to the bookshelf and find what you need.

All about M3 size nuts and bolts.

And look at that, we’ve got examples!

Which can be removed from the book!

Seriously, this is a BookFinity print. These come in different sizes. This one is 3x4u for a total of 12 singleton bins. The book is 4U high.

You can put anything in these books that don’t become disorganized if tipped on their side. They won’t come out of their bin; they will move around.

These are Socket Head Cap Screws, I’m going to do another M3 book for Button Headed Cap Screws.

There are dozens of these books already designed, ready for the printing.

  1. Now, this is something I can get behind.

I have never seriously considered acquiring a 3D printer because the cost of the printer/materials far outweighed the value of what I would print. But, this… I can use this. Definitely going to look into this. If I could get books to organize my small parts, I would be all over it. Especially if you could customize the titles and colors of the bins.

This post may have just cost me a bunch of money.

I have a lot of learning up to do here, but this is definitely a project I want to take on. Now comes the research into printers, and what software is going to work best for me. A decent and reliable storage solution can put me back hundreds or more, and it will have a lot of unused space, depending on how I choose to do it. Comparing that to the flexibility of these books, and the potential future use(s) of a 3D printer…
At least it is not just a toy purchase any more. There is actually a useable output.
