We all know that the Left and the media (who, though they often do things together, ARE two separate groups with two separate agendas) are not great at giving us all the facts. They post up stories like how ICE arrested a five year old child (not true; they detained the five year old because the parent was being incarcerated and they couldn’t exactly let a five year old go wandering around alone, which is the same thing DCF does when they have a parent arrested… but I digress). A few days ago, I saw a news report about an “elderly gentleman” (their words, which I find extremely offensive considering I’m 55 in 3 days and I’m not f’ing elderly, thankewvrymuch) being “dragged” out of his home in nothing but crocks, his underwear, and his 8 year old grandson’s blanket. I knew there had to be more to the story (and I was correct), but I couldn’t find anything.

Now, I am a proponent of keeping government small. (No, smaller than that. That’s still too much government. Put more back. More.) I believe the government has reverse Midas touch: everything it touches turns to shit. Therefore, unless it’s really necessary, the government should just back off. ICE is a government agency, and they are a strong-arm group. For what they’re doing, that’s an important skill, and I’m thankful they are doing as good a job as they appear to be. I mean, for all the Left is freaking out over the “deadliest year for ICE in decades” (NPR), that number of people who died over the entire year is 32. Jails lose more people in a year, by far. That number, 32, is for all of ICE detention centers… LA alone lost 22 inmates to death in 2025. You can shout about their numbers, but ICE seems to be doing a pretty good job.

That said, it’s important to watch all people in positions of power. ICE is a powerful place to be. I firmly believe that the vast majority of people working for ICE are morally upright, good people just trying to do a very difficult job, made worse by idiotic protesters and rioters. But there is always the possibility of there being a bad guy in their midst. Just as there are bad cops, there are probably bad ICE agents. It behooves us, especially those of us supporting ICE, to keep an eye on them. I don’t mean in the “citizen monitoring” way, but more in the same way we keep an eye on our politicians.

So when I heard about this elderly gentleman being dragged out of his home after they smashed his door in (in 7*F weather, I might add), I wanted to know more. That sounds bad, and I was worried we’d finally found the one bad apple in the barrel. I did what I usually do: I went looking for actual information, factual stuff.

I didn’t find it.

The only thing I could find on the topic until very late last night was what the Left was saying. Basically, they maintain that ICE showed up at the guy’s door, did a dynamic entry with no warning and no warrant, and proceeded to yank the guy out wearing only his boxers, some crocs, and a blanket. (PBS)

Last night, a variety of TikTok and YouTube people began giving more information. Unfortunately, they aren’t giving sources, and that makes them suspect. PBS and NPR are giving their source without hesitation: the very clear video of the end (not the early or later parts) of the guy’s removal from his property.

What Right social media is saying is that ICE showed up with papers to find two child molesters. They knocked, asked to speak to someone, and received no answer. They could see people in the house. The guy has already admitted freely that he didn’t open the door and told his daughter to not open it. After a few minutes of trying things the polite way, ICE then forced their way in. The guy said he was a US citizen, and that he wasn’t who they were looking for. They said okay, let’s use the portable fingerprint machine and check your identity. We can do that, verify you’re a citizen, and then we’ll leave. The guy refused. They argued, and the guy got belligerent (verbally), so ICE just said screw it and cuffed him and dragged him out of the house. He was detained until they had a chance to verify he was a citizen and NOT the two guys they were looking for, and then released.

The news reports that one of the guys they were looking for was already in jail. Regardless, the dude who’s home they went into was rude, nasty, and refused to cooperate. Whether they used excessive force in battering his door down is questionable. They admit they knew there was at least one kid in the home, and taking the door off the hinges seems excessive… but only in hindsight. They also “knew” there was a kid in there with possibly 2 pedos. I’d have been “dynamic” in my entry, too.

Regardless, I’d like to know the full story. None of my Right pundits have been able to give any sources for their claims, and the video is pretty clear about what happened from the door of the house to the ICE vehicle. It seems to me that if ICE went to the wrong house (this appears to be the case), they owe the family an apology and a door. On the other hand, when ICE knocks at the door and asks politely to talk to people, you talk. I might have put on clothes and gone outside (because I don’t like cops in my house), but I’d still have talked to them. And if I have to prove I’m who I say I am, then I will.

The Left would like to paint this as “comply with your oppressors.” It’s not, though. They’re LEOs and generally speaking, they aren’t doing anything wrong. They’re going after people with bench warrants, judicial warrants, removal orders, and the like. They’re doing the job we asked them to. They’re not going rampaging through cities, “deporting US citizens” (I can’t believe how asinine that sounds). They’re rounding up criminals, mostly violent but sometimes there are collateral with others. That means we’re going to have to show papers sometimes, and while that sucks, I can live with it for a bit longer until we clean up the streets.

Do you have any other information on this particular incident? I’m looking for verifying info for the Right version of the story.

  1. the thing that bothers me in all this “illegal immigration”” is why during the biden years cbp employees allowed millions to cross our borders (assuming) knowing it was against our laws… why? because the boss said don’t do your job?
to my narrow knuckle. dragging mind if you knowingly don’t do your job even though you know you are breaking laws do you REALLY care about your Country??

  2. “The news reports that one of the guys they were looking for was already in jail.”
And, if this happened in a “sanctuary” city/state, ICE had no idea whatsoever one of the suspects was already incarcerated.

“The Left would like to paint this as “comply with your oppressors.” It’s not, though.”
100% correct. There is no scenario where being an a-hole to law enforcement works to your benefit. But, the left has gotten so many people so worked up about “Trump’s Gestapo” and that everyone alive should be hostile and uncooperative with them. And, that will result in stupid like this.

    Finally…
“I believe the government has reverse Midas touch: everything it touches turns to shit. Therefore, unless it’s really necessary, the government should just back off.”
That is absolutely, 1,000% triple correct. There is nothing the government cannot make worse. But, for some reason, everyone seems to think they should be running the healthcare system, or paying for college, or raising their kids. What could go wrong?

    1. remember the 60s?? all the liberals back then(hippies) were all “down with the man”(gubmint).. and now when democrats are in power the “people” want gubmint to coddle them from cradle to grave..
Im living life my way without letting liberals wreck it..

      1. Well, liberals tend to be children in mind and action. So, not surprising the 60s liberals were all against the Government, but now support more and more government. It is what children do. Change their policies, standards, and mores when it suits them.

  3. Story time: A few years back, a suspect was on the run through our neighborhood. My spouse told me she saw someone jump our fence, run across the backyard, and jump the fence on the other side. I stepped outside to take a look to make sure nothing was missing and the fences weren’t damaged. (Yeah, yeah, “Don’t break perimeter,” I know. But he was already gone.)
    .
As I’m looking around, I hear a clear command to stop, identify myself, and come out, and I can see bright flashlights shining through the gaps in the fence. Realizing these are cops, I calmly give my name and say I live here and can provide my ID and I’m coming out. I explain that the gate takes two hands to open (it’s latched and tied so the little kids don’t open it) and it will take a second. I open the gate slowly and come out showing my hands, walk slowly to the officers (three, two carrying rifles at low-ready), say my ID is in my back pocket and I’m reaching for it, and do so slowly. I show them my ID, they verify the name matches what I gave verbally and my address is the home where we’re standing, and hand my ID back. I point the direction we saw the guy run, and they go on their way.
    .
Did/do I feel “oppressed” that I had to provide my “papers”? Not one bit. They were doing their job, chasing a suspect, and through no fault of theirs encountered me. While I was perfectly in my rights to not answer questions, under the circumstances being stopped — even in my own yard — is a reasonable detention, and it was much wiser to comply and keep everyone calm.
    .
And … The End. Not an “exciting” story, but pretty much exactly what we want to see. The cops were actively seeking a suspect, saw me where they expected him and stopped me, and upon verifying that I wasn’t him and had a right to be there, that was the end of it. The story of the “old man” (which I also resent; I’m not 55 yet but I’m getting closer every day) in the news reports was a bit more dynamic and dramatic, but ended the same way; they verified he wasn’t who they were looking for and let him go. They’ll need to apologize and pay to fix his door, but he’s not being held in detention while they seek whoever they WERE looking for, either.
    .
Leaving off the ending of his story — lying by omission — to score political points and outrage the populace, is one of the reasons you don’t hate the media enough. You think you do, but you really don’t.
