The New President

And… it’s over. Election season is done. Yesterday (or earlier) everyone cast their votes. Today, we have a new President elect.

Of course, I’m writing this in advance. At the time of writing this, we’re still in the throes of early voting, and Election Day is still a bit away. I can’t say that I’ll be unhappy to see the election mess over with. I may change my mind about that by the time this is published, of course.

Here are my prediction, made about a week before election. Take from it what you will.

I think that Trump is going to get in. I’m afraid to hope for that, right now, but I just feel like that’s what’s about to happen. I can’t find a poll that I trust, so I really don’t know. Everyone I do trust is saying that this election is too close to call. Still, I’ve seen lots of Trump signs and a lot fewer Harris ones over the past few months. That must mean something… right?

If Trump gets in, I believe we’re going to see the cities burn. I doubt that the mayhem will erupt into rural areas, if only because rural folk don’t put up with that crap. I think that the cities will be hugely damaged by rioters of the Left. I expect there to be some loss of life in the days to come. I am sure that a number of people will play stupid games and win stupid prizes, and we’ll hear all about it on the news.

If Harris gets in, there are likely to be challenges over voter fraud. I am going to assume that if Harris gets in, even by a slim margin, all the challenges will be dismissed. I have some major concerns about a Harris presidency. She and her group have spent a lot of time calling the Right Nazis and racists, and that means they themselves are likely those things. We tend to accuse others of doing the things we don’t want to admit we’re doing ourselves. I’m concerned she’ll actually attempt to round up Trump followers and reeducate them.

I’d like to say that I don’t believe things will be All That Bad, but I suspect no matter who’s in office, it’s going to be bad. Trump, for better or worse, has become the face of divisiveness in politics. I know that’s 99% to do with the Left media distorting things, but it is what it is. It’s why I wanted to see Nikki Haley or Ted Cruz up there rather than Trump. But this is where we are.

My expectation is that we’ll stay quietly at home for as much of the time as we can. I have a family member that’s traveling on Nov 7th, and I have a doctor’s appointment on the 6th. The 16th is a fundraiser dinner at the Fort (which I expect will be fine, because most of those people are Right leaning and educated). Those are the main trips out of the house I expect to make. Other than those, I want to hunker down in the house, stay warm and as sane as we can, and avoid whatever bullcrap is going on outside.

Our area is pretty mixed. There are a lot of Trump signs, but a lot of vocal leftists as well. I am not sure if this is likely to blow or not. I don’t involve myself in politics locally, because I have to live here. But I can’t say I’m not afraid. I’m worried.

I’m also still plagued with the itchy background brain noise that somehow, the Right has duped me with its devilry and I’m going to wake up and be in chains (metaphorically, at least). I know, it’s stupid. But man, it pokes at me. I’m so very tired of being afraid. I’m tired of being poor. I’m tired of being on edge. I’m just tired.

  1. And an update: Trump has won.

I want to echo what Chris said: be compassionate to those you know on the Left. Right now, they *believe* (whether it’s true or not doesn’t matter right now) that their world is about to crumble, and that they’re going to be marched off to indoctrination camps. The reality is, that won’t happen and the majority of us would stop anyone on any side who tried to do that. But their feelings, while based on something unreal, ARE real. Don’t belittle that. Please.

In just about two months, the world will change even more than it did when Trump was declared the winner in the early hours of this morning. It appears that we’ll have President, Senate, and House, at this point. For the last several months (years?) we’ve been saying that Harris and the Left have had time to make changes and have not… Now it’s our turn. We need to sit on our politicians, and make sure that they DO enact the changes that have been promised. We need to watch and make sure they do it the right way, not with magic pens but with good, solid legislation.

Take a deep breath, everyone. The worst part is over, but there’s much to come. Remember, defend, don’t antagonize.

Why should I be compassionate to someone that has declared me their enemy? Someone that thnks I am a nazi. Someone that would cheerfully lock me up for reeducation? Nope. I’m going to gloat and celebrate and those pathetic morons can suck it.

Much of the reason we are where we are right now, politically speaking, is because of hate, name calling, gloating, and being unable to deal with the fact that half the country has another belief. Just because we’re on the top right now on a happy wave does not mean we should descend into the crap others have.

I’ve lost my best friend and probably a quarter of my future book sales over my beliefs. I’m being called some pretty shitty things right now, too. I’ve spent most of today crying, on and off. I’m gutted. I would LOVE to have some fucking compassion right now. So yeah, I’m giving it to others.

Literally, that’s how we fix this shit.

Allyson, my wife and I see where you are coming from. my feeling also is I have no compassion for liberals who have spewed hate toward me and my Country. its like the meme says- they push you until you snap, then cry victim when you do. I just don’t engage them. i avoid them and don’t rise to thier bait. maybe it will help, maybe not- but the ones you lost really wernt friends at all.. friends can have different views and opinions and still be friends…

I was bullied mercilessly growing up. I’m quite familiar with them. The only way to deal with one is to hit them so hard they leave you alone. The democrats are bullies. If they are losing their shit because Trump won, then I will gladly shove it down their throat. I want them to be so miserable that they will stop their attacks and leave us alone.

    My 2¢:
The Marquis of Queensbury rules are why we find ourselves in the situation we do. We are constantly vilified yet never take it to them in return.
This is no different than a schoolyard bully scenario. If we just ‘don’t antagonize them’ then it’ll all stop. Doesn’t matter that we’ve tried it many times before; the bully will always find something to use as an excuse to abuse us for their entertainment.
It isn’t until we stand up to the bully that it ends.

A huge portion of Trump’s appeal is due to the fact that he gives it back to them better than he gets it, verbally, which is better than the status quo in some people’s eyes.

I have serious reservations about our side’s ability (desire?) to get anything done. The RINOs will want to “reach across the aisle” instead of fulfilling their mandate as asked for by the voters. It’s two short years of of a majority in both chambers of Congress. That means that if it doesn’t happen in the first session, well that’s all folks. Nobody is going to want to upset the apple cart and have a representative seat flipped, so there will be calls for moderation and bipartisanship, effectively forcing the legislature to sit on their hands. Do you think the left would squander such an opportunity? Nope. They’d sacrifice seats to achieve their goals. Change on their side is like a ratchet, turning and never reversing.

I would love to be wrong and will gladly eat crow if I am. In my view, we are in an abusive relationship with our government.

THIS is why I have said we won the battle but not the war. We the People must ride republicans in office. no mercy, do what you have been elected to do or we will vote you out.no more of this “reach across the aisle” shiite. they must get behind Trump or lose thier job.
my biggest issue with our president office is just what has happened. we get the grown up toddlers in office and they fubar us and the Country out of spite. the We the People get our guys in and we all go back to sleep. program ALL your so called leaders phone numbers in your phones and pester the fuk out of them. don’t let up. its only way they will get the message. Our work has just begun.

Here in my part of the world, there’s a group of us that are working to fix that in our county. We’re a red monolith, after this election the dems only hold the assessor’s office and a one council chair. The problem is that our own party was actively working against the candidates the people wanted. They said out loud that the weaker candidates won the primary(they won the general with 74%…) They had sitting R party members with D signs in their yards. We decided to take one day off to celebrate and gloat. But now it’s back to business, the party chairman is up in March and we’re already working to dethrone him and his entire cabal. Then we go after the last of his cronies that are still in power when the midterms come around.

          very kewl! lead by example!

      2. I don’t mind reaching across the aisle if it’s something that’s good for the country. There are occasional things that are. I want our politicians to go in and fix the crap they said they would. I want them to listen to everyone they can, weed through the stupid stuff and put that aside, and look into everything that isn’t stupid. Even if someone with a blue shirt on comes up with it. Is it likely? No… but then again, I’ve been pointing at Tulsi Gabbard for years now, and I feel completely vilified right now. I was right.

    2. I’m not saying not to stand your ground. I have, and I have a shit ton to lose right now. But you can stand up to a bully and not start the fight. You can stand up to a bully without descending into name calling.

DELETED*I* can. And I will. Fuck everyone right now.
