New SNAP Benefits Rules in Texas

Approximately 3.3 million Texans enrolled in the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can no longer purchase candy or sweetened drinks using their benefits. The new restrictions, effective today, have been implemented in response to a state law passed last year and a waiver approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Texas is one of 22 states that have received a waiver to restrict the use of SNAP benefits. “Texas is leading the way in aligning SNAP benefits with healthier food options,” Gov. Greg Abbott said last month. The new rules prohibit using benefits for candy bars, gum, and drinks that contain 5 grams or more of added sugar, or any amount of artificial sweetener. Not everyone agrees with the changes. Lorna Ramage, deputy director of communications for the advocacy group Every Texan, said, “We worry that these changes will lead to more Texas families going hungry, all while adding an unsustainable bureaucratic burden on Texas’ small businesses.”

And while your mileage may vary and we don’t have any proof aside from her X post last week, this is generally how it’s going to go for most people. First, birth certificate: “Contacted the health department of the county where I was born. They OVERNIGHTED a certified copy to me the next day – total cost, $14.” Fine, but what about a Social Security card? “Contacted Social Security on their site. They asked if I was sure I needed the card, since I ‘won’t likely be asked for it.’ I went ahead and got it – took five business days to arrive – total cost, $0.” But she’s married — and we’ve been told that if women have changed their name, they’re doomed, and “The Handmaid’s Tale” is really on! “Went to the ‘vital docs’ site of the county where we were hitched. Filled everything out online, arrived in three days – total cost, $5.” Oh. “It cost less than $20 to obtain all three certified/legal documents, and it took less than five business days to receive them”

We’ve seen a few active shooter scenarios pan out, for example, and one literal terrorist attack at Fort Hood, all despite the gun-free designation…Hegseth’s announcement, the military personnel we trust with heavy weapons and explosives might be able to carry a firearm on their own person just in case something happens, as well as use it in conjunction with a carry permit for the state they’re stationed in so they can be safe leaving base and running some errands or whatever. Get Ready For Blue States To Demand Big Bailouts

Feckless blue states are spending like there is no tomorrow, but tomorrow will come, and they’ll be demanding red state money to pay their debts.
1) I begin by presenting three trends. One might even call them inevitabilities, and one might argue they’re not trends at all, but present realities that are intertwined and will tend to collapse in on each other, inevitably leading to the third inevitability.
1)The first trend is a Congress of feckless fools: our Congress does seem unable to accomplish anything of consequence, such as the SAVE America Act, which will make election fraud not necessarily impossible, but more inconvenient for the Democrat party, which arguably cannot win an election without massive fraud. A paralyzed Congress can’t even pay the Department of Homeland Security at a time when the danger of a massive terrorist attack within our shaky borders is at an all-time high. Democrats don’t care. If thousands of Americans die, they’ll blame it on Trump, with the help of their media propaganda arm.
2) The second trend is multiple blue states rocketing toward bankruptcy, with the expectation that the American people will empty their wallets to bail them out. This comes from a combination of profligate deficit spending, massive fraud funneled through Democrat NGOs and other fraudsters, and unfunded pension obligations that could bankrupt some nations.
3) When blue-state America learns its citizens’ standard of living is going to crater to pay for the preventable stupidity of people who hate them—people who will keep spending other people’s money—red states are going to secede. Even rumors of secession will be enough to drive blue states—and Congress—to mobilize against red states. It won’t be for a noble cause like abolishing slavery. It will be to seize the money and property of fiscally responsible Americans. They, like all socialists, will want to make everybody poor and miserable. Red-state Americans aren’t going to go for that, and our military, our police, federal agents—the works—will have to choose sides. It won’t work out the way Democrats think.

There’s a new bill working its way through New York’s state senate, which would open up around 11,000 acres of a crucial, forested ecosystem around the Finger Lakes to be razed for wind turbines and solar panels. Sponsored by Democrat Rachel May, the bill would reportedly not require approval from the county or town governing boards, and definitely not the people who live there. May’s bill actually opens up hundreds of thousands of acres of protected lands to corporate purchase for “renewable energy developers”—which means this wouldn’t just happen in the Finger Lakes, a watershed that happens to provide fresh drinking water to more than 2 million people in the state, but in protected landscapes all across the great state of New York. What would the ramifications be for the thriving fish populations, which draw fishermen from all over New England? What will this mean for wildlife? Local farmers? People who use the lakes in any number of recreational ways? I’m also going to go out on a limb here and speculate that these ‘yes’ votes probably have some of their portfolio tied up in the same “renewable energy developers” who stand to make a killing.

The resolution from Bahrain: “[A]uthorizes member States, acting nationally or through voluntary multinational naval partnerships, with advance notifications to the Security Council,” to use all necessary means “to secure transit passage and to deter attempts to close, obstruct or otherwise interfere with international navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.” But three countries reportedly blocked the effort.: Russia, China, and France. Russia and China are predictable. But France? They’re supposed to be a NATO ally, and they’re going to block the use of all possible means to deal with the Iranian terrorist regime? That’s pretty weaselly. But it may get worse. Now comes word that some more ships made it through the Strait. Among them were ships linked to Japan, Oman, and…you guessed it…France.
